Elemental Restorative with Live Guitar

Sunday, August 25th 6 - 8pm

In this class you're invited to relax into a state of openness, ease, and clarity through supported yoga postures accessible to most, guided visualizations, and breathwork. Restorative Yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga that utilizes props to make it easier for your body to move into certain poses, and thus, surrender to the pose. Practicing poses using props provides a completely supportive environment for total relaxation. Typically, restorative poses are sustained for five to ten minutes or for as long as you are comfortable. All accompanied by the sometimes grounding, sometimes ethereal guitar soundscapes of Morgan Leininger.

Cost: $20. Teacher: Tara.

Tara is a certified yoga and meditation practitioner. Her training includes basic and advanced certification in Kripalu and vinyasa flow yoga, Yoga4Cancer, restorative yoga and in a variety of meditative lineages. She is an authorized Shri Vidya guide under the tutelage of her Guru, Uma-Parvathinath Saraswati. Sri Vidya is an ancient and intricate science and practice honoring the Divine Feminine. Meditation, mantra, and ritual are the practices of this path. With devotion and surrender, Tara offers yoga within its full and living context. The physical aspects of the practice serve deepening embodiment and preparation for meditation, all on the path of liberation.

After practicing music and yoga separately for decades, Tara and Morgan were joined together when Morgan entered yoga teacher training and was introduced to the world of kirtan. This led to an exploration of traditional Indian music and translation of various ragas to a specially tuned acoustic guitar. Now he combines elements of western music and eastern ragas along with the addition of a looper and e-bow to expand the sonic palette and create completely unique live immersive soundscapes for yoga. Tuned to the energy and focus of the teacher and class in the moment, this sonic support system is a moving, supportive, sustaining soundtrack for your experience.

He will also place obstacles if required!). He is the ruler of the five elements and the five senses and is rather fond of sweets. We will celebrate this beloved field of Consciousness and invite him, reverently, into our lives.

Gaṇēśa Asana Class – 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Accessible to most, we will engage in a series of physical postures that will support seated meditation and visualization that invokes the energies of Gaṇēśa.

Gaṇēśa Sadhana (practice) – 6:45 – 8:15 pm – beginners and curious seekers welcome!
• Mythology – The story of Gaṇēśa’s birth/life
• Chanting – Songs that celebrate Gaṇēśa
• Offerings – 5 Elemental Offerings to Gaṇēśa – feel free to bring flowers if you’d like – yellow or orange preferred, but not necessary
• Meditation – Guided meditation with visualization
• Mantra recitation – Learn Gaṇēśa’s mantra – if you know what a mala is and have one, please bring it.
• Yoga Nidra – deep relaxation to integrate all the energies of the evening
• Partake in prasad – the sweet food offering that Gaṇēśa loves!

Gaṇēśa Chaturthī begins a 10-day celebration of Gaṇēśa. You will be invited to continue the practice you learn for the following 10 days to reap the benefits of the sadhana / practice.  You will receive an audio recording of the evening’s sadhana to support you in this continuation.

Full Moon Space Sadhana with live music

Immerse yourself in the energies of the luminous full Moon. We will engage with the element of Space, weaving its energy throughout the practice. The space element gives the possibility of transmuting hopelessness, numbness, apathy, and fragmentation into Wisdom, unity, stillness and freedom. This sadhana (practice) will consist of a combination of gentle asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathwork), meditation, accessible mantra (the yoga of sound), spontaneous movement, and yoga nidra (conscious rest and relaxation). This evening will be in functional silence in order to support and deepen your experience.  Functional silence means that we speak, if necessary, for practical purposes only – directions, relevant questions, etc. There will be a break or two throughout the evening. Some light healthy snacks and iced tea will be available.  Please do bring water in a sealed water bottle for yourself.

Yin Yoga- Chakra Balancing Workshop for Fall

This Yin Yoga class will begin with meditation to bring awareness to our breath and presence to our practice.  The rest of the class will be spent exploring each of the 7 Chakras one by one and moving into asanas that will help to balance each Chakra center.  There will be 2-3 poses for each Chakra center with each pose being held up to 5 minutes.

As we work through all 7 of the Chakras, I will explain what each one represents, the emotions and colors attached to each one, a mantra and mudra for each Chakra.  I will explain how each Chakra affects us when it is balanced and imbalanced.  Class will end with a long relaxing Savasana with Reiki healing for each participant.  Cost: $25. Teacher: KC.

KC is originally from Los Angeles, California where she was born and raised. Her yoga journey began in 2007, as a stress reliever after a long day of teaching elementary Special Education students for LAUSD.  As she began her journey, she also introduced yoga to her students in the classroom.  KC saw how yoga gave her tools to help with daily stressors using movement and the breath to ease anxiety and quiet the mind and realized how her students could benefit from yoga as well. In the spring of 2016, KC finally decided to enroll in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program through YogaWorks in El Segundo, CA.  She is a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. In addition, she has also completed three separate Children’s Yoga training programs.  KC is a Reiki Level 2 practitioner and often incorporates Reiki during Savasana.

Flow, Restore and Yoga Nidra

Flow, Restore and Yoga Nidra

September 29th from 2 - 4pm

As the leaves begin to turn and the air becomes cool and clear, it is important that we prepare our bodies for the cold months ahead.  Join Danielle for nourishing 2 hour yoga practice that will leave you feeling refreshed, restored, reset and ready for the fall season. Beginning with a  gentle, mandala flow to realign your breath, energize your body and increase mental focus.  Moving into a restorative practice, allowing your body to actively relax, centering breath and body, calming the mind, aiding proper digestion and reducing stress.  Concluding with Yoga Nidra (resting meditation) an opportunity to deeply connect with yourself, explore what you need in the moment and  release long-held emotions.  Each student will also receive an Ayurvedic Fall diet and lifestyle guide, an opportunity to take your practice beyond your mat and into your life. Cost: $20. Teacher: Danielle.

Danielle’s journey with yoga began more than 10 years ago when she was pregnant with her first child. As the years went on, she realized that yoga was so much more than a series of postures, yoga was a way of life beyond the mat. As a yoga teacher Danielle hopes to help her students realize that the integration of a yoga practice beyond their mats and into their lives is a path to wholeness. Danielle received her 200 hour certification from Uplifted Yoga and is currently enrolled in their 300 hour advanced teacher training with Brett Larkin, Kristin Leal and Anodea Judith. She studied with Shai Plonski of the Still Light Centre to earn her certification in Thai Yoga Massage. Danielle offers group classes, private sessions and workshops. In addition to teaching yoga, Danielle is a dedicated student both in her personal practice and under the guidance of her exceptional teachers.

Fine-Tuning Your Practice - Exploring the Sun Salutation

Fine-Tuning Your Practice - Exploring the Sun Salutation
Sunday, October 20th 2-4pm

Teacher: Danielle Thomas
Cost: $20 pre-registered / $25 drop-in

In our yoga classes we don’t always have the time to breakdown each pose, ask questions or experiment with variations of poses that we’ve always wanted to try.  In this workshop we will explore classical Sun Salutations, one posture at a time, offering general alignment as well as cues to fine-tune the posture to your body.  We will also explore creative variations of  Sun Salutations, using your direct experience to tune in to your unique expression.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Svadhyaya (self-study)  of your alignment, breath, body awareness, subtle energy body and mindfulness.  The workshop will conclude with a guided relaxation and resting meditation.  Accessible to all levels. This class may be cancelled if a minimum is not met.

Danielle’s journey with yoga began more than 10 years ago when she was pregnant with her first child. As the years went on, she realized that yoga was so much more than a series of postures, yoga was a way of life beyond the mat. Body Positivity - Yoga For Tween Girls Ages 9-12

Body Positivity - Yoga For Tween Girls Ages 9-12

Calling all Tween Girls ages 9-12!! This practice is designed for tween girls who would like to try yoga in a non-competitive, supportive atmosphere.  This session is meant to introduce this age group to yoga in a way that is different than a kids’ class, but not quite the same as an adult yoga class.  It’s for our ‘inbetweeners.’  We come together to support one another in our sisterhood by moving our bodies in a safe, yet challenging manner.  Class will begin with a brief centering, introduction of sun salutations, standing poses, and cool-down. Teacher: KC. Cost: $15 early bird registration by 10/22. $20 drop-in price.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a journey into a deep state of relaxation where the conscious mind rests between sleep and wakefulness. In this class we begin with a series of very gentle warm ups, accessible to most, to enable the body to soften in preparation for lying comfortably on the floor while you are guided through an in-depth body scan and guided visualization journey through deep layers of consciousness. We close with grounding exercises. This class is offered on the first Friday of each month.

Cost: $10.

Restorative, Reiki, and Essential Oils

Limit of 10 students so please sign up early. Cost: $35.00. Teachers: Meghan and Lisa.

Meghan’s mother, Lisa, planted the seed of yoga in her when she was very young, but as an adult she found a new appreciation for it. Driven by low-back/hip pain and a desire to quiet the mind while energizing the body she began to practice regularly. She received her initial training in vinyasa flow and yin restorative at Honest Yoga in Burlington, VT and went on to complete her 500hr training in classical yoga and yoga therapy at YogaLife Institute of NH in Exeter. Meghan is a certified children’s yoga teacher and Reiki 2 practitioner and has received training in prenatal yoga and yoga for trauma. She offers private and group classes as well as workshops. Meghan grew up in the Kearsarge area and is grateful for the opportunity to share the benefits of yoga with her community.
