Restorative Yoga with Live Music

Sunday, October 27th from 6-8pm

Teacher: Tara
Cost: $20

In this class you're invited to relax into a state of openness, ease, and clarity through supported yoga postures accessible to most, guided visualizations, and breathwork. Restorative Yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga that utilizes props to make it easier for your body to move into certain poses, and thus, surrender to the pose. Practicing poses using props provides a completely supportive environment for total relaxation. Typically, restorative poses are sustained for five to ten minutes or for as long as you are comfortable. All accompanied by the sometimes grounding, sometimes ethereal guitar soundscapes of Morgan Leininger. Evergreen community member, will be offering Reiki healing during this session.

Tara is a certified yoga and meditation practitioner. Her training includes basic and advanced certification in Kripalu and vinyasa flow yoga, restorative yoga, yoga nidra, Yoga4Cancer, and in a variety of meditative lineages. In July 2019, she completed a rigorous and comprehensive 3-year immersion and authorization program in the Shri Vidya Forest Path lineage under the tutelage of her Guru, Uma-Parvathinath Saraswati. Sri Vidya is an ancient and intricate form of Hindu Tantric Shakta worship honoring the Divine Feminine. Meditation, mantra, and ritual are the practices of this path. With devotion and surrender, Tara offers yoga within its full and living context. The physical aspects of the practice serve deepening embodiment and preparation for meditation, all on the path of liberation.

Safe & Sound - Sisters in Sound Healing-Asanas

Saturday, November 9th from 10:30am - noon

Teachers: Susie Lowe-Stockwell & Kathy Lowe-Bloch
Cost:
$20. Please pre-register by November 7th. Space is limited to 14 participants.

Treat yourself to a nourishing yoga class geared toward energizing the body and healing the soul. Suitable for all levels of yoga practice. Join sisters, Susie Lowe-Stockwell, RYT and Kathy Lowe-Bloch, BSHS as they combine Hatha yoga with live, healing sounds. As Susie offers each asana, Kathy will enhance the experience with healing sounds resonating from bowls, drums, guitar, chimes, harmonium and voice.

Hatha Yoga is not just for people who are already “fit”. Yoga is for everyone who wants to check in with their body and allow time to open stuck places (emotional or physical), move past pain and breathe deeply from the crown of the head through the tips of your toes. When live sound is added into the body’s movement experience, the resonance surrounds and enters the body to enhance flow and vibrational alignment. The sounds can actually help to relax the body while forming into the pose. You can do what works for you and reap the full benefit of this 1 -1/2 hour class.

Susie (established yoga teacher at Evergreen Healing Arts) has practiced yoga for several decades and following retirement in 2015, she completed a yoga teacher training certification in 2017. She found her commitment to her yoga practice to be extremely beneficial as she maneuvered her professional career and personal life. She incorporates gentle movement with traditional Hatha yoga asana and breath work to encourage body strength and a sense of well-being.

Kathy (guest presenter) has been offering Sound Healing for 30 years. She hosts a bi-weekly Sound Healing Drumming/Sharing Circle at her home in New London. Also, in the world of music, Kathy is a singer/songwriter/recording artist and photographer. Her style and vision, is to create a container of healing vibration where all who sound bathe together, are part of a sphere where comfort, inclusiveness, and healing resonate safety and inner peace.

Participants are also invited to bring something to share for the evening in the circle – crystal, acorn, feather, herbs or a picture of an ancestor. We will be smudging/burning herbs at the beginning of each circle including sage, palo santo, and mugwort.  Please contact us ahead of time with allergies or sensitivities and we would be happy to make arrangements so that you are able to comfortably attend. ALL women are welcome to join. This includes trans and non binary women.

In November we will focus on gratitude and abundance, discuss herbal allies and create a blessings jar.

In December we will focus on cycles and tuning in.  We will discuss herbal allies and self-care rituals.

In January…

Kris is a new transplant to Bradford with a passion for bringing women together in community.  Growing up the only girl in a house full of brothers, it was only as an adult that she really discovered the power of women coming together in friendship and community to connect as our ancestors have done since the beginning of time. As a member of the Twin Star Herbal Community in the Hills of Northwestern CT, she learned about the traditions of women from across the globe.  Kris considers herself a lifelong student who learns from everyone she meets and is grateful for her incredible community of teachers including herbalists Lupo Passero and Bekah Sutter and Linda Shreve with her stories and teachings of the divine feminine through the study of goddess archetypes.  Kris completed the Science and Art of Herbalism Intensive from Rosemary Gladstar, and a year-long Spiral Path apprentice program at Twin Star, and looks forward to sharing and learning within her new community here in Bradford.

Take some time for self-care and join us for two blissful hours of renewal and reflection on gratitude for the fall season!  Restorative yoga allows your muscles to release and stretch passively with the aid of gravity and props.  As you relax into each posture for several minutes, you will also receive Reiki, a gentle hands-on energy technique that promotes stress reduction and relaxation.  Throughout the session a gentle essential oil will be diffused in the air, and in various poses you will be offered specific oils to enhance the relaxation and healing effects of the practice.  This is a joint taught workshop with Reiki practitioners Meghan MacLean, RYT-500, and Lisa MacLean, R.N. She received her initial training in vinyasa flow and yin restorative at Honest Yoga in Burlington, VT and went on to complete her 500hr training in classical yoga and yoga therapy at YogaLife Institute of NH in Exeter. Meghan is a certified children’s yoga teacher and Reiki 2 practitioner and has received training in prenatal yoga and yoga for trauma. She offers private and group classes as well as workshops. Meghan grew up in the Kearsarge area and is grateful for the opportunity to share the benefits of yoga with her community.
